Raw(green) banana is one of the most useful vegetable in Indian vegetarian cuisine. Specially Bengali cuisine are using all part of banana  plant in food. Raw banana has lots of health benefit also. Today I am introducing a veg Kebab/Tikki using raw banana (Most popular veg starter). You can serve it as a snacks with tea. Its very easy to make. This recipe is recommended for beginner also.
Lets go to the recipe.

Preparation Time : 20 minutes

Cook Time       15 minutes

Serves            6 people

Ingredients:

  • Cooking oil- 1 tablespoon + extra for shallow fry
  • Onion(chopped)- 1 large
  • Ginger garlic paste- 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Boiled Banana(peeled)- 2 whole
  • Boiled Potato(peeled)- 1 whole
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chat masala- 1 teaspoon
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Black Salt- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Roasted Cumin Powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves(chopped)- 1/2 cup
  • Sattu/Roasted besan- 2 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice- 1 tablespoon
  • Green chilli(chopped)- 1 piece

How to Make:

  1. Add oil in a pan. Allow it to heat.
  2. Then add onion and fry until it changes the colour at low heat.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and fry until its raw flavour is gone.
  4. Turn off the flame and keep aside.
  5. Slice the boiled banana and chop the boiled potato roughly so that it can be smashed easily.
  6. Smash the banana and potato smoothly using a potato smasher or using your hand. Or you can grate it also.
  7. Then add all spices followed by green chilli, coriander leaves & sattu.
  8. Then add fried onion, ginger garlic (which we have made earlier)
  9. Squeeze the lemon to get fresh lemon juice.
  10. Mix everything and make a semi soft dough.
  11. Now take a small portion of dough and make the tikki in round shape using your palm or you can use a cookie cutter to give the desired shape.
  12. Try to make all sides of tikki even.
  13. Take little oil in pan for shallow fry and spread into the pan.
  14. Then place the kebab(tikki) and fry from both side until brown spot comes. If required add very little oil in between of cooking.
  15. Turn off the flame and take out into a serving plate.
  16. Enjoy with coriander chutney & tamarind chutney.

My Tip:

  • Banana and potato should be boiled properly. I had added little salt when boiled.
  • When you smashed the banana and potato, make sure there is no lump.
  • If you want, you can deep fry the tikki. I had shallow fry it for consuming low oil due to heath.
