Oatmeal Porridge in two ways | Healthy Oatmeal breakfast | Diet recipe | Weight loss Meal




Everyone knows not only oats has lots of health benefit , but also it helps to reduce extra body weight , blood pressure & cholesterol level. When I was in diet, oats was one of my daily food intake. Oats can be consumed in many way. Here , I am sharing the porridge recipe(in two way). Normally it is a sweet dish, but here I have made one savoury porridge also for them who don't like sweet taste.
Lets go to the recipe.

For each type

Preparation Time : 5 minutes

Cook Time       8 minutes

Serves            1 people


Ingredients:

  • Type 1: Savoury Porridge
    • Rolled Oats- 1/4 cup
    • Butter- 1 teaspoon
    • Minced Garlic- 2 cloves
    • Milk- 1/2 cup
    • Salt to taste
    • Black papper(crushed)- 1 teaspoon
    • Hot water- 1/2 cup
    • Boiled red lentils(thick)- 1/2 cup
    • Grated carrots- 1 whole
    • Chopped spinach- 1 handful
    • Blanched peas- 1/4 cup
    • Chopped yellow bell pepper- 1 whole
    • Chopped Red bell pepper- 1/2 of a medium
    • Chives(chopped)- 2 tablespoon + for garnishing
    • Coriander leaves(chopped)- 2 tablespoon + for garnishing
  • Type 2: Sweet Porridge
    • Rolled Oats- 1/4 cup
    • Milk- 3/4 cup + 1/4 cup
    • Honey- 1 tablespoon
    • Peanut butter- 1 tablespoon
    • Cinnamon powder- 1/2 teaspoon
    • Smashed banana- 1/2 of whole
    • Grated apple- 1/3 cup
    • Chopped strawberry- 4 pieces
    • Ground flax seeds- 1 tablespoon
    • Some fruit for serving



How to Make:

  1. Type 1: Savoury Porridge
    1. Add butter in pan. Let it melt.
    2. Add garlic to saute for 40 seconds.
    3. Next add oats followed by milk.
    4. Season with salt. Add hot water.
    5. Then time to add thick boiled lentils. Mix well with the oats.
    6. Add all veggies one by one.
    7. Seasoned with black pepper. Adjust the salt.
    8. Finish with chives & coriander leaves.
    9. Turn off the flame & serve it hot.
    10. Garnish with green leaves before serving.
  2. Type 2: Sweet Porridge
    1. Take rolled oats in a pan. Add 3/4 cup of milk and mix well.
    2. Stir & cook until it gets soft.
    3. Now add 1/4 cup milk and mix well.
    4. Add honey, peanut butter & cinnamon one by one. Give it a good mix. Turn off the flame.
    5. Add all fruits one by one and mix well.
    6. You can serve it hot/chilled as per choice. 
    7. Sprinkle ground flax seeds on top.
    8. Before serving, garnish it with fruits.

Note: 

  • Fruits & veggies can be added as per choice.
